When the days are short and the weather draws you inside, there is nothing better to warm and nourish than a vegan hot chocolate.
You can tailor this delicious drink to suit your taste buds, using different plant-based milk and flavours depending on your mood or the time of day.
Add winter spices for a cosy lift, peppermint extract for a pick me up, a shot of espresso to make a mocha or try this maca version:
Vegan Maca Hot Chocolate:
1 cup of plant milk of your choice (preferably oat or hazelnut)
1 tbsp. of raw cacao powder
½ tsp of maca powder
¼ tsp of cinnamon
1 tsp. of honey or maple syrup
Stir all the ingredients together apart from the honey and heat the mixture in a saucepan. Add the honey or maple syrup before serving. To reach a creamy consistency, you can prepare the drink in a milk frother.
Serve in a favourite mug that brings special memories and we recommend you enjoy this with a dash of Coorie…
Coorie is a traditional Scottish word expressing the familiar warmth of family and friends. It’s a bit like the Danish lifestyle concept of Hygge embracing comfort and relaxation. The gist of Coorie is to lead a quieter existence by adding in small pleasures (like hot chocolate!) to our endless commitments.
